Making the most of your studio experience

    Do Your Home Work

  • Preproduction - Record your practices. Analize your songs and performance then make changes.
  • Don't get attached to a part you wrote. It just might not work in the song.
  • Be flexible. Changes in some songs will probably be necessary before the album is done.
  • Drummers must practice with a metronome or drum machine!!! No excuses!!!
  • Drummers should buy the book "The Drummers Studio Survival Guide." Amazon .com
  • Drummers should read the "Tuning Drums" section of this site.
  • Simplify if you are speeding up or rushing through changes.
  • Space is important! Even heavy bands leave space in their songs.
  • Make sure your gear is in good condition. Learn how to maintain your gear or pay someone to do it for you.
